NAND Memory Gets Faster Performance

February 04th, 2008 | Category: Hardware News

Intel and Micron has developed the fastest NAND chip so far which got 5 times better performance then earlier products. NAND is a type of flash memory which is mostly being used in storage devices like SSD (Solid State Disk). NAND got some great features which you canoot find on the NOR flash memory which is the older version. The NAND information won’t disappear if your electricity goes down unlike the older NOR memory. This new chip will also manage a reading speed of 200 MB/s and a writing speed of 100 MB/s. Micron already offers 3 different versions of this chip, 8, 16 and 32 Gigabit. These chips are still being tested ant won’t be available in any products yet.
