Will SDD be a success?

January 27th, 2008 | Category: Hardware News

The boss from Seagate, William Watkins expresses his doubts to SSD (Solid State Drive) based storage facilities in a interview with Cnet. So far SSD got a big handicap when it comes to storage possibilities and the prices is way to high and especially if the price will be based on each GB. According Watkins, Segate things that SSD is a good choice for certain niches were you are looking for performance but the sale won’t start before they can get a higher amount of storage space. A few good thing with SSD is the low power usage and the extreme searching speed.

The best solution now would be a hybird disk, this disk will have the same speed as SSD because of the huge cache amount and also the big storage place like the old magnetic disks we use today has.

January 27th, 2008 | Category: Software News

KDE is a desk board environment that earlier only existed for Linux, but now you can also get a test version for Windows. KDE only supports Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003, Vista support will however be released later. Under the installation you will get loads of choices to choose from. Most of them are easy but when you choose you packages you should really choose dbus-msvc, kdebase-msvc, kdewin32-msvc, qt-msvc and kdegames-msvc, if not you may get some problems. KDE for windows is now available at windows.kde.org

Be aware over that the Windows version of KDE is just in alpha and can be unstable in certain ways
