Sony has just developed a laser for Blu-ray which is much smaller than the previous lasers. With this technology the Blu-ray players will be smaller and cheaper. The new laser is not just smaller but it also costs a lot less money for Sony to produce it. The laser is only 3 mm thick and Sony wants to put it in 2,5″ -players in laptops. The fight and development between Blu-eay and HD DVD will probably make the prices drop very soon. Earlier this month Toshiba reduced their prices for HD DVD a lot. This made however HD DVD the cheapest format, so its good news for us Blu-ray lovers and Sony that they finally found a way to reduce the price as well. Blu-way has however a lot more people on their side and especially after the movie company Warner Bros decided to use only Blu-ray for their future films.
