Soon you will be forced to use IE7
From 12th February Microsoft will start an automatic transition from IE6 to IE7. Administrator’s from different companies which still uses Windows Server 2003 or XP, now gets a possibility to avoid this automatic installation of IE7. Microsoft has just released a tool which can be used to deactivate the automatic installation of IE7. The tool will however only work if you are using Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server SP1 2003. You can download them from Microsoft here.
8 commentsNew USB 3.0 at CES!
Last September Intel presented a draft at the IDF of what could be the specifications of the next evolution of the Universal Serial Bus (USB) stamped 3.0. While we wait for the validation of an initial review of this interface, a few representatives from Intel came extolling the virtues of USB 3.0 at CES and show the public a few copies of future connectors that will be involved.
For the record the USB 3.0 is supposed to eventually offer a bandwidth of 4.7 Gbps about ten times greater than the 480 Mbps authorized by the USB 2.0, and a reduction in power consumption to the extent that the flood will be closed when the connected device is not used. Backwards-compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.0, USB 3.0 however adopt a new format connector which is somewhat closer to what is found with HDMI.
The USB 3.0 can maybe use fiber optics, but that is a possibility under investigation. USB 3.0 will indeed be of two types: one purely electric, the other electrical and optical. The rate announced by 5 Gbps or 625 MB per second however this will be available on both cable types. The first practical applications of the USB 3.0 should not see the light of day until 2009 or 2010. Meanwhile the 3200 Firewire or S3200, and its 3.2 Gbps should have made its appearance on the market.
No commentsInformation about the GeForce 9800 GX2
The word is here finally Nvidia is announcing the GeForce 9800 GX2. According to published information, this card will be launched in late February or early March and formally replace the GeForce 8800 Ultra. The GeForce 9800 GX2 card will be a two-stage driven by two processors GeForce 8800 engraved 65-nanometer for the occasion. This card although with two graphics processors, will operate on motherboards with a single port PCI Express 16x (such as the GeForce 7950 GX2 in its day). For now the assumption of Quad SLI has not been confirmed, but it would seem that the possibility of linking two cards of this type is quite possible.
When we talk about performance, GeForce 9800 GX2 will be +30%
faster compared to a GeForce 8800 Ultra. The card will be visible with 1 GB of
memory (or “only” 512 MB per GPU?) And 256 processors flow. Now we
just have to wait for Nvidia to give us more information about this beast!
Intel waits with the release of QX9770
According to Taiwanese sources Intel wont be releasing their extreme QX9770 processor before another 2 months. However there is nobody that knows exactly why Intel keeps the QX9770 on the fabric for another 2 months.
The processor will have a clocking frequency of 3,2 GHz, 1600 MHz buzz speed and 12 MB cache. The processor is of course produced with a 45 nm technic, but it got a very high effect usage of 136 Watt.
The price will be around 1400 American dollar
The reason why Intel is not releasing this might processor yet might be that the X48 chip is slow in production. This is the only chip that can support 1600 MHz buzz.
Once Intel has launched the QX 9770 the next update will be the “Nehalem” architecture which will be out near the end of this year. WX9770 is also the last processor with FSB support because Nehalem” will use QuickPath technology (QPI)
